It has been raining off and on for most of the day, the wind is low and it isnt cold.
The sun is sinking fast, everything has had a good soaking all day colour saturation is high

Elegant, simple, hardy and edible these Nasturiums grace an otherwise unusable area

The rain was hard enough to make some of the plants bend and droop

The light will fail me soon, my depth of field options diminish rapidly

I have just lifted and spread 10 bags of soil over the new bed area, its all ready for planting now. Base layer of mulch, and compost to enrich the soil and  dolomite to sweeten it.

A far cry from bricks, builders sand, compacted heavy loam and weeds

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Having done all the heavy work and chopping up of green manure in one of the newer areas I rewarded myself with some plantings

             grapevine supports
             netting
             mulch
             basil and marigold seeds to be planted
             feed everything
             work out where i can fit the sunflowers, they may have to go in buckets again

A glorious spring day, balmy breeze and bird orchestra accompaniment. Those birds should be pleased they managed to consume all my chilli seedlings! Today  saw a general tidyup, preparation of the potato bags and spinach planting. Lots of weeding and snail trap clean up number 3, the trap has been very successful if gooey and nasty looking when opened. Got some of the cords up for the grape vine, ducks disease makes it tricky. Looking forward to tomorrows work

It has been a while, I have been busy doing other things for a week or so and havent got the camera out nor posted here.
Most of the seeds have been planted in punnets and are under glass in a warm spot (see photo below). I have a few elderly and Hybrid seeds that need to be planted so I may guerilla some of the garden beds in the common area outside. As long as I dont dig new beds in the "precious" (and I must mention unused) lawn, its unlikely to have repercussions.

Took a few cuttings from one of my sage plants to see if they take, honey on the cut and straight into propagating mix, theyre keeping the seed trays company.







The rochetti, coriander and broadbeans continue to flourish in this beautiful spring weather. The rochetti has started to run to flower so I am hoping for seedlings, self sown.

The comfrey finally seems happy, but i I think I may have lost one of the two newer rosemary seedlings :/ my own fault for being tardy to plant, will continue to tend it and perhaps it may surprise.
